Pokémon Go adds a new function called Lucky Friends, as well as Avatar poses.

The trainer avatars’ can finally do poses in Pokémon Go. You can now customize how your trainer is posed on your trainer profile, Friends’ lists, raid lobbies, gyms, and battle previews. You can collect different poses for your trainer avatar.

“Lucky Friends” is an extension of the previous installed adding friends’ mechanic. In Pokémon Go, players can become each other’s “Friends.” For a player to add another player as a friend, they need to get to the trainer screen menu. To get to the trainer screen menu, you need to tap your trainer’s face on the bottom left corner of the main screen.

Once at the trainer menu, there are two options on the top to choose from. Automatically the trainer menu will be on the “Me” information option; next to the “Me” option is the “Friends” option.

If you’re at a high enough level, you should be able to have the option to “Add Friend” in the “Friends” option. You then put in your friend’s trainer code, and they then become your friend.

There are different levels of friendship within the game, the highest being “Best Friends.” You can level up your friendship with a person once a day. To progress your friendship, you need to either send your friend a gift or participate in raids or gyms with them. It takes ninety days of improving your friendship to become someone’s “Best Friend.”

Once you’re “Best Friends” with another player, you can make them your “Lucky Friend.” The options to make your “Best Friend” a “Lucky Friend” happens either when you and one of your “Best Friends” trade Pokémon, open a gift from each other, team up against raids or gym battles, or have trainer battle between each other. You can only turn a “Best Friend” into a “Lucky Friend” once a day; you should get a notification when they are your “Lucky Friend.”

Once you and your friend are “Lucky Friends” with each other, the next time you trade Pokémon, each one of the traded Pokémon will become Lucky Pokémon. Once you traded, you and your friend will no longer be “Lucky Friends.” You can only do this once a day.
