Pokémon Go announces the Season of Legends and reveals legendary Therian Formes

A new season has arrived to Pokémon Go.

Pokémon Go’s Season of Celebrations ends on March 1, and the next season has been announced as the Season of Legends, starting on the same day. This not only means more legendary Pokémon for trainers to capture, but based on the concept art of the three Forces of Nature Pokémon, Landorus, Tornadus, and Thundurus, it looks like Pokémon Forms are the next feature coming to the game. The cover art for Season of Legends shows off these three legendary Pokémon in their Therian Formes.

The Therian forms of Landorus, Tornadus, and Thunderus will be making their debut in five-star raids sometime during the three-month-long season. These unique Pokémon forms will vary from their original ones, and based on data mining information we’ve heard about, these forms will be similar to evolutions.

Other legendary Pokémon are set to make their debut as well in the Season of Legends. However, Niantic did not hint or provide details about them. The mobile game has been moving into the Kalos region, so we might likely see Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde. Xerneas and Yveltal have already made small appearances in key Pokémon Go art featuring the Kalos region.

The start of the Season of Legend also means Pokémon will be moving throughout the hemisphere. The type of Pokémon appearing in each hemisphere varies, and these will have increased spawn chances throughout the event period, along with new Pokémon inside of eggs. The season’s start also means the beginning of season-exlusive Special research, rewarding players with Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus candy.

Pokémon Go wrapped up its massive Tour: Kanto event last weekend and continues the final week of the Season of Celebration with the Kanto Celebration and the Kanto Cup. That’s not the only event happening, with Giovanni making an appearance for a special Team Rocket event on February 28 from 11 AM to 2 PM in your local time zone.
