A host of new features are coming to Pokemon Go later this week—including the highly requested trade feature that players have been wanting since the game released.

To trade with friends, you will need to add other trainers to the game’s new friends list system which allows trainers to add each other using a special Trainer Code. You will then be able to trade items, bonuses, and Pokémon with each other. There is currently no word on if you will be able to trade with those not on your friends list, however.

To trade with other players, you will first need to be Trainer Level 10 or higher. You can then invite that person to a trade. When you trade away a Pokémon, you will earn a Candy for that Pokémon, like you would if you sent the Pokémon to Professor Willow.

You will need to use Stardust, one of the game’s many forms of in-game currency, to complete a trade. Certain Pokemon such Legendary Pokémon, a Shiny Pokémon, or a Pokémon not currently in your Pokédex will require more candy and count as Special Trades, which you can only do once a day.

By constantly trading with friends you will increase a new level called Friendship Level with that person which will reduce the amount of Stardust needed to trade Pokémon.

You might also receive a new item called a Special Gift when spinning a Pokéstop which can be sent to a friend to increase your friendship level. It will also give that person special items such as Eggs that, when hatched, will contain an Alolan form Pokémon that is not available to capture in the overworld.
