Water-type Pokémon are splashing down into Pokemon Go starting today to celebrate the return of Niantic’s Water Festival event.

Pokemon such as Magikarp and Wailmer will be appearing a lot more frequently in the wild, alongside a brand new Shiny variant Shellder that will only be available during the event. The event is set to end on June 21, meaning trainers have two weeks to find themselves one before it is gone for good.

Alongside the increased Water-type spawn rate, trainers will also be able to earn three times as much Stardust when catching Water-type Pokémon. 2km eggs will also hatch mainly rare Water-type Pokémon like Totodile, Mudkip, and Corphish with double Candy and Stardust being given to trainers for each successful hatch.

The Legendary Pokémon Kyogre, who last appeared in the game at the start of the year, will also be making a return to the game starting today until June 21. A Shiny Kyogre has also been added to the game as an added incentive for trainers to get out there and battle it again.

The event coincides with the release of Articuno as a Field Research mission reward. Articuno replaced Zapdos at the start of June as the main reward for collecting seven stickers in the game’s recently added mission feature. The increase of new water-themed missions and Pokemon are sure to help trainers towards their goal of capturing Articuno and Kyogre over the next few weeks.
