Game Freak developer Junichi Masuda recently told Famitsu that he’s interested in allowing Pokémon players to transfer their creatures to future generations. (Pieces of this interview have been translated by Nintendo Everything.)
“There have been times where you couldn’t bring Pokémon over from previous titles,” Masusa said. “I imagine that created some bad memories. I want to try and change that, if I can.”

This isn’t a confirmation that Pokémon: Let’s Go will allow players to transfer Pokémon caught in-game to the unnamed 2019 Switch game, but it’s an encouraging to see the studio on the same page as the fans.
The Pokémon: Let’s Go games are being targeted toward more “casual” Pokémon players, ensuring a more “simplified” experience, Masuda told IGN in May. There will be some deviation from the traditional handheld experience, using Pokémon Go’s Combat Power leveling system. Likewise, players don’t have to battle Pokémon to catch ’em all, just lobbing Poké Balls will do fine. Players can, however, battle other trainers.
“For our first entry on the Nintendo Switch, I really wanted to do something more kind of simplified, something that really anyone could enjoy,” Masuda told IGN. “I think the reason for this is to get more Switches into the hands of younger kids and more casual players, not just players who are really interested in hardcore games or are really gamers first and foremost.”
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will be released on Nov. 16 for the Nintendo Switch.
