Pokémon Sword And Shield’s Most Powerful Steel-Type Move Has A Name

A competition in CoroCoro was to name a new steel-type move for Pokemon Sword and Shield. A name for the move has been revealed.

The most powerful Steel-type move in Pokémon Sword and Shield was given a name. Back in April, we reported that CoroCoro would be holding a competition to name a Pokémon move. CoroCoro is a popular monthly Japanese magazine that centers on video games and manga.

The description of the move in CoroCoro’s competition goes like this –

  • Type: Steel
  • Category: Special
  • Power: 140
  • Effect: Does major damage but reduces user’s Hit Points by 50%

Serebii reports that the move has been given a name, which means a winner has been decided. On Serebii’s Twitter, the site shows off a video that highlights the move. The video is based on Japanese gameplay, and all the moves are in Japanese. The spelling for the steel type move is てっていこうせん.

Serebii has come up with two possible translations for the move in the English. One of these potential translated names could be “Do-or-Die.” Another likely translation could be “Exhaustive Beam,” which is a pun in Japanese.

Serebii may still be searching for a more optimal translation for the move, but until then, “Do-or-Die” and “Exhaustive Beam” are the closest approximation of what the move may be called in Japanese currently.

Pokémon Sword and Shield is expected to release worldwide on November 15, 2019.
