Rockstar Games has reportedly acknowledged an issue that makes the quality of the image on Red Dead Redemption 2 for PS4 Pro blurry.
RDR2.org forums’ users have reported the issue and one of them has received a positive answer from the developer itself about it.
“Is anyone else having issues on the PS4 Pro with blurry graphics. I am having issues on my PS4 Pro (I’m using a LG oled) and the middle to long distance graphics are terribly blurry. The strange thing is it seems to fix itself dependant on the time of the day,” the user noted.
“Whenever I turn it seems to blur terribly and gives me a headache if I play too long. Going straight seems OK. So disappointing. Turning HDR off helped a little bit but none of the other settings seem to do anything. I hope they can patch this.”
Interestingly, other players have shared the same experience, which has led people to believe it’s because of checkerboard rendering filling gaps with pixels similar to those next to them in order to get an upscaled 4K resolution.
The reason why they think so is that the regular PlayStation 4 model doesn’t suffer the same issue, nor Xbox One X players do since it’s running at native 4K over there.
Rockstar Support has informed those encountering the issue that “yes, we are currently hard at work fixing a few of the issues the community is facing”.
That’s probably going to be a part of the content of the first post-release patch for Red Dead Redemption 2. We’ll update you as soon as this gets official.
