Red Dead Redemption 2 was the best selling game of 2018 in the United States, according to data gathered by NPD Group.
The best selling game in December 2018 was Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which gained the title of the best selling exclusive in the month of the launch (previously held by 2010’s Halo Reach).
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate managed to get in the top five of the year even only launching in December, too.
Nintendo Switch was also the best selling console in 2018, and December saw it generating more money than any other console since Wii in 2009 and selling more consoles than anyone else since 2010 in that specific month. (via)
Interestingly, Red Dead Redemption 2 ended up winning the year very close to Black Ops 4, whose PC digital sales are not included though – and that made a big difference, says NPD (via).
