Fans excited for the newly-announced remake of Resident Evil 3 have a new tease to look forward to, coming to the last game in the series, the remake of Resident Evil 2. To be delivered to RE2 in an update soon, the tease will come in the form of a letter from RE3’s protagonist, Jill Valentine.

This tease has been rumored for about a week, when fans uncovered a new Steam achievement for the game. Called “Chasing Jill”, the achievement says that players need to “Read a letter left behind by Jill.” The game hasn’t been updated at the time of writing, so the letter is not present in the game yet.

This achievement comes as another in a series of teases in Resident Evil 2 for the upcoming remake. In April of this year, Capcom tweeted out a cryptic question about broken walls found within the Raccoon City Police Department.

The popular theory among the game’s community is that the broken walls were left by both Mr. X, a villain of Resident Evil 2, and also by Nemesis, a main villain of Resident Evil 3. Since the original third game came with the subtitle of Nemesis, players deduced that this meant a remake of the game was on the way.

The Resident Evil 2 remake was released in January, and was met with much acclaim from critics and fans alike. Having just been recently announced during this week’s Playsation State of Play, the remake of Resident Evil 3 will follow in its predecessor’s footsteps, presenting a fully updated version of the 1999 horror game.

There is no confirmation on a date for this update. For now, we have to wait and see what Jill has to say in her letter.

Resident Evil 2 is available now on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, with Resident Evil 3 available for pre-order now, with a release set for April 3, 2020.
