Based on intel gathered by insider Dusk Golem, Capcom is aiming to make Resident Evil an annual franchise.
Resident Evil 3 Remake is part of the same plan, apparently, and would be set to ship in early 2020 by an external studio.
Resident Evil 8 would’ve been “a bit delayed” internally in comparison with the original plan, but it would make it in time for January 2021 or later in 2021.
“The series will be kinda “unofficially” almost annual for the next few years, though of course as game development goes anything could be delayed,” the insider says.

We don’t have new information about the game but remember that a previous rumor claimed that the title would be set on an abandoned island and getting the third person view back.
