During the last few days, a rumor’s been around about a possible return of Scalebound under Nintendo.
As you might remember, the game was being built exclusively for Windows 10 and Xbox One until January 2017, when it got cancelled.
Since then, Platinum Games has built a great relationship with Nintendo, and it’s working on two games (Astral Chain and Bayonetta 3) for the Switch.
Anyway, this doesn’t mean that a ‘new’ Scalebound is being worked on at Platinum Games exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
As shared by former lead producer Jean Pierre Kellams, “I don’t work there anymore and haven’t talked to anyone about it, but I’d highly doubt this is a thing.”
“That and hardware differences. At that point, it makes more sense to just make a brand new game. It’s not like Scalebound was a beloved IP. It never got a chance to be that.”
On top of that, it’s worth noting that the IP is owned by Microsoft, so it looks a bit hard that Nintendo has purchased it and reignited it after all this time.
Anyway, we’ll be waiting to learn more as it’s always interesting when a game gets unfortunately cancelled and there’s hope for it to return in such a different shape.
Shit. I don’t know. I don’t work there anymore and haven’t talked to anyone about it, but I’d highly doubt this is a thing. https://t.co/lM1iypFzwy
