Sea of Thieves is getting not one, but two free summer events, with the first is dropping this month. Rare and Microsoft have just announced that Cursed Sails is coming to Xbox One and Windows players on July 31.Â
The DLC will introduce spooky ships crawling with their own skeleton crews –as in actual skeletons, not slim pickings– as well as a three-person Brigantine ship and helpful Alliances that can bolster your manpower. Previously, you could only choose from the Galleon and Sloop, so the Brigantine should make for some epic three-person formations. Meanwhile, Alliances should make partying up with special fleet formations a breeze.Â
Adventures based around in-game lore will be available as well. Players must chat with the shopkeepers found around Sea of Thieves to kick off a series of new quests that will ultimately culminate in special goodies only found within the confines of this new expansion.Â
The Cursed Sails campaign will only last for three weeks, though the Brigantine and Alliance system will act as permanent additions to the game. For everything else, you’ll want to make sure you hop on either Xbox One or PC on July 31 to drop your sails and hoist your anchors the day everything launches.
September will bring the Forsaken Shores DLC, which will introduce an entirely new region to the game.
