There’s a bit of good news coming out for Sonic fans. Sega has confirmed that, during the upcoming SXSW 2018 event, it will be unveiling what’s next for the “fastest thing alive.”

What could it be? A new 3D game no one asked for? No one knows just yet, but maybe this time around we’ll get something cool like Sonic Mania.

Sega has teased that the company will be serving up a “world-exclusive first look at what comes next” for Sonic and friends at a panel during the event. The aptly-named Gotta Go Fast: The Official Sonic the Hedgehog Panel will take place at 3:30pm CT on March 16.

“Sonic is back, and ready to take 2018 by storm,” Sega has teased. With a full lineup of influential names in the Sonic sphere like Takashi Iizuka, Sonic PD Director Austin Keys, Sonic Mania Animation Director Tyson Hesse, and Sonic Social Media Manager Aaron Webber, there’s probably something good brewing.

At this point, it seems like it could possibly be something in the neighborhood of or a sequel to Sonic Mania, but anything could happen. If you’re going to head out to the event, make sure you check out this panel, and the rest of us watching from home will make sure to keep tabs on what’s next for Sonic and the team.
