The final entry in the Tomb Raider trilogy, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, made an action-packed debut during Microsoft’s E3 2018 conference today, showing off Lara Croft’s harrowing new adventure.

The new footage shows off Lara working her way through an enormous Mayan temple as she then makes her getaway down a dangerous river. Her life-threatening adventure (and all her troubles, if we’re being honest) seem to begin when she unseats a knife from a certain area in a creepy old temple, which apparently starts the “cleansing.”

From there, all hell breaks loose as Lara finds herself at the center of some business she probably shouldn’t have ever been a part of to start with. If there’s anyone out there who can save the entire world from what looks like an impending Mayan apocalypse, it’s Lara Croft, so it looks like we’re all in good hands.

The new rebooted Tomb Raider trilogy originally debuted back in 2013 with Tomb Raider, and was quickly followed by Rise of the Tomb Raider in 2015. It’s been three years since we’ve had our last rendezvous with Lara, but this final installment looks like it’s going to be an explosive new entry with plenty of what we love about the series jam-packed into its confines for an excellent third game. Square Enix’s Eidos Monstreal studio is taking over from Crystal Dynamics this time around, so we’ll see how things play out.

The game is headed to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on Sept. 14, 2018.
