Ubisoft revealed its upcoming pirate-themed game Skull and Bones with a new story trailer based around the game’s seafaring pirates, who make alliances with one another (and subsequently break them) for plunder.

In the game, players serve as pirates ravaging the Indian Ocean’s merchants and pirates alike for their own own benefit. Players choose Fortunes, which are special abilities that enhance gameplay. One of these, called “Favorable Winds,” gives pirates more merchants to rob as well as more competition on the seas.

The game takes place in a “shared world,” where players can fight amongst one another or ally with each other in the “Hunting Grounds.” A gameplay trailer shows ship combat in the Hunting Grounds as a pirate raids a Portuguese merchant’s ship.

The game’s pirate den also lets players choose their ship, customize their crew and gear, and choose between different weaponry. Ship captains can use various means, such as disguised ship flags and stealthy maneuvers, in order to avoid combat with other ships. Captains can also navigate their ships around islands to stealthily take down other ships, fire on them, and plunder them for gain.

Skull and Bones is set to release in 2019.
