For those who thought things could turn around for Overkill’s The Walking Dead, here’s some bad news
Skybound Entertainment, a company co-founded by The Walking Dead’s creator Robert Kirkman, announced it is terminating its contract with Starbreeze Studios, the publisher of Overkill’s The Walking Dead. The announcement came in an official statement posted on Skybound’s website where they share that Overkill’s The Walking Dead, , a team-based, first-person shooter, did not “meet our standards nor is it the quality that we were promised.”
Overkill Software, the studio behind Payday and its sequel, Payday 2, has not released a statement. When Overkill’s The Walking Dead first released, numerous critics had negative takes on the game, saying it was full of bugs, poor design, and frustrating gameplay.
The game had only released on Steam, and there were plans for Overkill to bring it consoles on February 6, but this decision got pushed back.
Skybound’s latest announcement kills any hopes of the game coming to the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One.
