Game Informer has a 14-page scoop on Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man, including its release date.
Insomniac Games’ upcoming title Spider-Man for PlayStation 4 has a release date, and Game Informer is about to share it with the world, the game’s developer confirmed earlier today.
The reveal first came about thanks to a morning news post from Game Informer, announcing that the gaming publication “played Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man” in its current form and knows “its release date.” Reporters visited Insomniac for two days and received extensive information from the upcoming game’s developers, including several interviews from the studio.
That news post reveals the upcoming May magazine coverage will include a 14-page spread that will talk about the game’s missions, collectibles, open-world activities, controls, combat, and story. Alongside the cover reveal, Game Informer will also host a full month’s worth of Spider-Man news stories right on the publication’s website.
Shortly after that news post, Insomniac Games popped up on Twitter after a fan feared the game would be delayed beyond 2018. Spider-Man’s developer reiterated that the PlayStation 4 exclusive is “releasing [in] 2018,” and that the game’s release date will be revealed “tomorrow,” April 4.
Insomniac’s PS4 Spider-Man title was originally revealed back at E3 2016 during Sony’s PlayStation press conference, although the game itself has been in development since 2014. The game takes place throughout modern New York City, Spider-Man’s hometown, and focuses on third-person open-world gameplay akin to the Batman: Arkham series.
Spider-Man is currently planned for the first half of 2018, which means tomorrow’s reveal may include a May or June release date if the game isn’t delayed. Check back tomorrow to know for certain.
