Sony revealed our first solid look at Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage from the upcoming Spyro Reignited Trilogy, a remastered collection of the first three entries in the series. The latest episode of PlayStation Underground aired today, diving into the Idol Springs level. You can see that clip below.

We could already ascertain from the screenshots Activision and developer Toys for Bob released around the time of the announcement, but it’s going to be gorgeous. The upgraded textures, lighting effects, and shadows make it look nearly unrecognizable from its original form in the best kind of way.

Originally developed by Insomniac Games for the PlayStation, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage and the other Spyro titles included in this collection were released between 1998 and 2000. This is the first time they’ll be available on modern consoles, featuring the same voice actors as the original. Tom Kenny (best known as SpongeBob SquarePants and Professor Ellis D. Trails from that bonkers Mr. Show skit) will be reprising his role as Spyro.

Activision released the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy last year for all platforms. The remastered classics didn’t just gain critical praise, but has remained one of the best selling games since its release, still claiming top sales charts spots a year later. Spyro hasn’t been on hiatus quite like like his orange, neckless predecessor as the dragon has starred in Activision’s bank busting Skylanders series. But the Spyro games were revolutionary in their day, and the Skylanders games do not deliver the free-roaming, sheep-burning experience of the original series.

You’ll be able to play the Spyro Reignited Trilogy releases later this year, coming to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Sep. 21, 2018.
