A recent trailer for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the Nintendo Switch may have unintentionally unveiled that stage builder is coming to the latest Smash Bros. game.

Stage builders in Super Smash Bros. allowed players to create their own stages. They were generally limited, with the stages having a limited amount of space and resources to use.

Stage building has been a feature in Super Smash Bros. since Brawl. The feature was noticeably absent in Ultimate. Many fans have assumed there would be an update that will include stage builder, which may end up being correct.

In one of the latest trailers showing off the Nintendo Switch, you can see the menu system in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. For a hot second, you can see something that shouldn’t be there.

Around on the two-second mark, you can see a blurred image of the menu screen on the TV. On the bottom right there is a new option that isn’t in the game currently. Though it isn’t readable, it looks identical to stage building option in past Super Smash Bros. games.

Seeing the stage builder option in this 30-seconds trailer was probably due to simple human oversight. It could also mean that those in charge of commercial didn’t feel the need to correct the mistake, possibly because it isn’t a big deal.

With that said, if the rumors of Thursday’s Nintendo Direct are correct, is the timing of this trailer purely coincidental? Will stage builder in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate be announced in that direct
