Star Trek: Bridge Crew has an upcoming DLC pack themed around Star Trek: The Next Generation, and an iconic guest is coming along for the fun: the Borg.

The Next Generation DLC pack takes Star Trek: Bridge Crew out of The Original Series and into The Next Generation’s legendary USS Enterprise-D, helmed in the TV and film series by Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

The new DLC brings several major changes to the game, including two new enemy combatants: Romulans and the Borg. Romulans join Bridge Crew with their powerful cloaking device, whereas the Borg cube stars in a new gameplay mode called “Resistance.” In that mode, the Borg chases players’ Enterprise-D across the galaxy as crew members search for various parts to create a prototype weapon that can destroy the Borg cube.

Alongside The Next Generation DLC’s new enemies, there’s also the upcoming Patrol mode, where players freely roam around the galaxy, joining in on random encounters and answering distress calls. Patrol turns the game into a bit of an open-world romp, making it a great choice for friends looking for a late-night gaming session in Star Trek: Bridge Crew. And there’s also a new command role, called Operations, which lets players manage generic crew members by assigning certain officers to systems in exchange for an operation bonus. For more information on the new additions, check out Ubisoft News’ press release.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew’s The Next Generation DLC launches on May 22 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR, with the expansion’s PC launch scheduled for July 21 on HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Windows Mixed Reality. The DLC is available for VR and non-VR players alike on both systems, so there’s no need to purchase a virtual reality headset just to give Star Trek: Bridge Crew a shot.
