Starship Troopers: Terrain Command goes back to the original movie from 1997 leaning into the need to survive
A good game of bug stomping in the Starship Troopers universe is scheduled to launch at some point in 2020. Developers Slitherine Software, the U.K. company behind Spartan, Legion Arena, and Horrible Histories: Ruthless Romans, has a new trailer for their upcoming game Starship Troopers: Terrain Command.
The upcoming real-time strategy (RTS) game leans into the franchise’s first movie, which released in 1997. The trailer shows off some of the standard gameplay with lines of troopers facing off against a horde of bugs intent on conquering everything.
Slitherine also posted a gameplay teaser on their YouTube channel showing troopers being dropped off from a transport in the middle of a fight, with mechs protecting smaller infantry units. At the end of the gameplay teaser, an entire outpost is overrun by bugs, with a bomber eventually coming in to destroy the place.
Parts of it felt like another RTS survival game called They Are Billions, where players have to defend a progressively growing fort against a horde of zombies. Players have to weigh the positives and negatives of expanding to acquire new resources, but risk spreading themselves too thin to face off the wave of zombies coming at them. Starship Troopers: Terrain Command could turn out to be something similar.
However, we do not have an exact release date at this time.
