We’re sharing a very bad news today, since – as reported by WTVA website– in Monroe County, Miss., a 9-year-old boy shot dead his 13-year-old sister “over a video game argument” in the weekend.

“There they learned the boy grabbed a gun when the teenage girl would not give up the video game controller. Sheriff Cantrell says the bullet went through the girl’s brain,” the website reports.

“Their mother was in another room feeding lunch to other kids when it happened. Sheriff Cantrell said they aren’t sure how the boy was able to access the gun. The girl was rushed to Le Bonheur’s Children’s Hospital where she later died from her injuries.”

At this moment, it is not clear how it is possible that such a young child had access to such a dangerous weapon, and whether he had already given any signal of a possible violent behavior at home.

On top of that, it is yet to learn what is the situation from a legal standpoint now, as we don’t know whether the child is in custody or not at this stage of the process.

Video games seem quite collateral in such a tragedy, as at the core of this argument there might have been anything else in my opinion, but – just a few days after ESA met President Trump at the White House – it is clear this case will have quite a big resonance in the medium.
