Tetris 99 is getting paid DLC for offline play.

Tetris 99 is a free game for Nintendo Switch owners that are subscribed toward to the Switch’s paid online service. Tetris 99 involves you playing against 98 other players online in an intense match; the last one left playing is the winner. You can sabotage your opponents but getting more combos, and giving them extra lines in their Tetris screen.

The game is free for anyone who pays for the Switch online services, but there was only really one mode to play. The online mode was the only real place to play Tetris 99, which means you could only play online against other people.

On May 9, Nintendo revealed on their social media accounts that they have just released a paid DLC for Tetris 99 called the Big Block DLC. The DLC costs 9.99 USD and offers two new modes for offline play.

One of the modes is called CPU Battle. CPU Battle is essentially the normal main game, except of playing against 98 real players via online, you play against 98 CPUs. This mode will no doubt help players train against real life players, and it would also give gamers an offline option to play the game.

The second mode is called Marathon, and the main objective in that mode is to clear as many lines as possible.

Tetris 99 was release on the Nintendo Switch February 13. The Big Block DLC is available to purchase right now on the Nintendo eShop for 9.99 USD.
