The Outer Worlds will be ported to the Switch by Virtuos, who previously handled the porting of L.A Noire to the console. The game seems to be very much inspired by Obsidian’s previous work on Fallout: New Vegas. While that might be a little bit dismissive of the work involved in making this game, it is almost impossible to not notice the shared roots in the aesthetic of the games.
Lost in transit while on a colonist ship bound for the furthest edge of the galaxy, you awake decades later than you expected only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy the Halcyon colony.
As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter a host of factions all vying for power, who you decide to become will determine the fate of everyone in Halcyon. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.
In The Outer Worlds, you will be getting up to all kinds of shenanigans, taking on powerful enemies and doing what you can to complete various quests and missions. You can interact with the world as you see fit, with no binary “good and evil” system you can instead react to individual situations in ways that suit you, but there will be a lasting impact that your choices leave on the world of the game.
The Outer Worlds will release on October 25 for PC, PS4, Xbox One. It will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on an as yet unconfirmed date.
