Rumors suggest that Ubisoft may be bringing a Premium Pass service to Uplay.
Ubisoft may just be preparing to launch a Premium Pass service on Uplay. Some users managed to get a glimpse of a very interesting entry on the Ubisoft store before it was removed.
The “Ubisoft Pass Premium” was listed in the Subscriptions category, implying a monthly charge rather than a one-shot payment tied into a game. The Premium Pass concept is something that has started to take off, especially in our current era of games as a service. Premium Pass services tend to offer access to a library of games for a monthly fee, rather than the traditional model of paying a one time fee to own a game.
Ubisoft does have a strong library of games that would certainly back up such an offering, and have recently been a solid success streak when it comes to not just releases, but also putting the work in to ensure games that might have rocky starts end up being successful. While this all obviously just falls into the rumor/leak category right now, it would make a lot of sense for Ubisoft to introduce such a service after the success EA has had with EA Access.
We can almost certainly expect to hear more about this, if the rumor is true, at Ubisoft’s upcoming showcase at E3 2019, but we will keep our ear to the ground for any rumors before then.
