Wild West Online rustles up a Steam release this May

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Giddy-up, buckaroo. That western simulator we’ve been murmuring about, Wild West Online, is about to touch down on Steam. Yes, the game so many of us thought (incorrectly) was Red Dead Redemption 2 for a hot minute is actually coming out, and it’ll be ready to play as early as May 10. The announcement comes by way of developer WWO Partners’ website, though there isn’t any indication whether this will be a full launch title or one that’s relegated to Steam Early Access.

The Wild West-themed MMO has been available as a paid early access title since last November, and you can still try it out if you’d like right now outside of Steam without having to wait until May if you just can’t stand it. But when it comes to Steam it should be released in its most complete state yet, including weapons customization, redesigned public events, character customization, and more. There will also be special PvP and PvE content if that’s what you’re into.

Originally, the game was meant to seek funding via Kickstarter, but WWO Partners were able to keep it rolling to get the MMO funded, and it’s been in development since then. If that sounds like something you want to get involved in, you may want to go ahead and buy in now. You can form your own posse with friends or go it alone as you explore a western-styled MMO land rife with bandit clans, gold mining, and plenty of gunfights. It certainly looks like an interesting aesthetic with lots to do, but we’ll have to reserve judgment until we’re able to get our hands on it proper.
