It has been confirmed that Microsoft’s Xbox E3 presentation was the most watched conference of this year’s show for the third year running.

This year’s E3 may not have been the most memorable, but that didn’t stop an incredible number of people tuning in to watch each of the conferences as they delivered the latest on their new games.

While the numbers, on the whole, were slightly down from last year in most cases, the conference held by Microsoft managed to attract up to 1.5 million viewers on Twitch throughout their presentation, down from the 1.7 million that tuned in last year. The drop could also be accounted for by their push for viewers to tune in via their streaming service Mixer.

Ubisoft, similar to last year, came in at a close second with 1.4 million viewers, also down on previous year’s 1.6 million, as they showcased Watch Dogs: Legion and Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Bethesda saw the most significant leap in view numbers from about 964k in 2018 to 1.2 million this year despite having, by their standards, a poor year for releases. The promise of Doom Eternal gameplay footage would likely have helped with their viewership number.

After those two, Square Enix managed 888k, the PC gaming show attracted 853k, and Nintendo’s Direct saw 728k fans tune in.

In probably the most surprising statistic, Developer Digital’s almost mock presentation in the style of a Nintendo Direct manage to bring in 678k viewers, outperforming EA Play, which only saw 463k viewers despite being far and away the most extended presentation of the weekend, though their viewer count has generally been the lowest for some time now.

Last year’s Xbox stream continues to hold the record on Twitch as the most watched stream with that 1.7 million viewer figure, but this year still had plenty of excitement with a guest appearance from Keanu Reeves and the reveal of their next-generation hardware, Project Scarlett. Their number this year may also have been boosted with Sony not taking to a stage for a presentation, opting to wait for their State of Play stream.
