Cult classic, FPS XIII is getting a remake for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch this November.
The cult classic game XIII will be getting a remake for the modern consoles.
XIII is a cel-shaded, first-person shooter game that was released on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox in 2003. It was later released on the Nintendo GameCube as well.
XIII centers on an amnesic assassin, who goes by XIII. Loosely based on the Belgium graphic novels of the same name, the game was known for its politically complex narrative. The game was also praised for its striking cel-shaded graphics.
Despite the decent reception and the major cliffhanger the game leaves the player at the end of the campaign, there was never any follow-up. This may be due to the mix response towards the title’s gameplay, and mediocre sales. It has since received a dedicated cult following.
While it isn’t a sequel, a remake of the original will be releasing this November. The PlayStation Blog announced the game on their website, revealing that the game is being developed by Playmagic, and will be published by Microids.
A teaser for the remake was released on the official PlayStation YouTube account. The teaser shows off the remake’s updated aesthetics and key images from the original game.
The remake of XIII is expected to release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on November 13.
