Monsters, Inc. is the next world coming to Kingdom Hearts 3, Square Enix confirmed in a new trailer at the D23 Expo.
The world will feature main characters Sora, Goofy, and Donald turned into monsters to unite alongside the Monsters, Inc. inhabitants. The mission will take players through the story of the first Monsters, Inc. movie.
Monsters, Inc. is the second Pixar movie to get its Kingdom Hearts debut following Toy Story world, which was revealed last year.
In addition to the gameplay trailer, new story details were introduced, giving fans an idea about who they’ll be facing off against in the story. The “New” Organization XIII will act as the main antagonists, while Marluxia and Vanitas, previous enemies in the series, will both play a part in the story.
A new theme song called “Don’t Think Twice” by series composer Hikaru Utada also made its debut at the event.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is expected to be released sometime this year on Xbox One and PS4. The official release date isn’t known at this time, but fans can expect to hear more about the game at this year’s E3 in June.
