E3 2019: The 9 Most Anticipated Games

E3 2019 will be running from June 11 to Jun 13. However, the event itself has spread out beyond those dates, as various companies, developers, and publishers cram in all kinds of news and reveals that turn it into more of a week-long event. This year there is a large crop of exciting games that we are excited to see more of. This list is not laid out in any particular order; I am just hyped for all of them.

E3 2019: Games We Are Excited To See More Of

Cyberpunk 2077

Okay, so while the list is not in any particular order, this is the game I am most excited to see more of. The Witcher 3 is still one of my favorite games of the last decade, and I consider it to be one of the finest examples of emotive storytelling that the games industry has given us to date. Outside of their experiments with Gwent, Cyberpunk 2077 will be the first game that CD Projekt Red has given the world since their high-fantasy triumph. It’s based on an RPG game that I played a lot of in college, is cyberpunk sci-fi game, which is my favorite setting, and will let me live out my fantasy of having a cool robot body instead of this weak human flesh I am chained to in real life. My hype levels are critical.

Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite – E3 2018 – Announcement Trailer

The Master Chief returns in Halo Infinite – the next chapter of the legendary franchise. Developed by 343 Industries and created with our new Slipspace Engine, Halo Infinite was revealed at the Xbox E3 2018 Briefing with a thrilling engine demo that provides a glimpse into the future of the Halo franchise, leading it into new and unexpected directions.

Halo Infinite feels like the other game with the best potential to offer us a massive gaming moment. Sometimes, when you genuinely get to see a game for the first time, it just leaves a memory with you that never fades. Halo is a giant in the games industry, and this is the game that seeks to reboot it spiritually. It will be built in a completely new engine, and hopefully, at E3 2019 a lot of our questions will be answered about this game. If done right, a proper Halo Infinite reveal could dominate headlines at the event.

Pokemon Sword and Shield

Forge a Path to Greatness in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield! ⚔ 🛡

Unsheathe your sword and take up your shield! The world of Pokémon expands to include the Galar region in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, coming in late 2019! Leave a comment below to let us know which Pokémon you’re excited to begin your newest adventure with!

It feels like a Nintendo platform should never launch without a Pokemon game, but that is what happened with the Switch. Two years later, Sword and Shield is on the way. It will be set in a brand new region, based on the UK, known as Galar. As you can see in the video above, everything looks cute as hell, and the game is certainly going to benefit from the improved power of the Switch. This game is more than likely going to end up dominating whatever release window it gets, and I can’t wait to see more of it at E3 2019.

Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2 – E3 2018 Gameplay World Premiere

See how your choices will decide the fate of a decaying City in the Gameplay World Premiere footage of Dying Light 2.

Dying Light was a real pleasant surprise for me, and it is one of the few zombie games over the last few years that I enjoyed. Dying Light 2 is promising to kick things up a notch, bringing in noted game designer and writer Chris Avellone to help give the game some narrative direction. The original parkour and combat systems were surprisingly fun, and the world the action took place in was very well designed. The sequel promises complex social ramifications based on your actions, and I want to learn more about it.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – Official Reveal Trailer

Cal Kestis-one of the last surviving members of the Jedi Order after the purge of Order 66-is now a Padawan on the run. Experience this all-new single-player STAR WARS™ story from Respawn Entertainment and EA Star Wars on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC this holiday season, 15 November 2019.

Respawn have been knocking it out of the park lately with the excellent campaign for Titanfall 2, and the smash hit Battle Royale game Apex Legends. I want them to convert that magic into a great Star Wars experience, and Jedi: Fallen Order is their chance to do just that. Singleplayer Star Wars experiences have been thin on the ground lately, so the potential audience for this one is hungry and ready to part with their cash. All we need to kick off the hype train properly is gameplay, and a release date, so hopefully we get both at this years E3.

Session

Session Announce Trailer

Heavily inspired by the golden era and skate culture of the late 90s/early 2000s, Project: Session is all about authenticity and creativity. Freedom of expression is the core of skateboarding so players shouldn’t have to worry about how many point their tricks are worth. Instead, Session offers a unique control scheme that gives players full control.

In another time, and another place, I was a skate kid. I loved nothing more than tracking down skate tapes and then severely injuring myself trying to replicate the incredible things that people did on them. Now, some 20 years later, I am a bag of injuries and formerly broken bones, and the idea of getting on a skateboard terrifies me to my core. Thankfully, games let us get up to all kinds of fun in a safe way, so when Session drops I will be able to fall off my skateboard in hilarious ways once again, but this time without nearly killing myself.

Doom Eternal

DOOM Eternal – Official Gameplay Reveal

Watch the exclusive reveal of DOOM Eternal, featuring over 15 minutes of gameplay. The DOOM Slayer returns in DOOM Eternal, the much-anticipated sequel to DOOM, coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch! With a redesigned set of armor, and an arsenal of new equipment, your fight against the onslaught of Hell continues.

The Doom reboot was amazing, one of my favorite shooters in recent years. The movement, the brutal melee kills, the intense soundtrack, the way Doomguy managed to communicate his disdain for the greed on display all around him without saying a word. It was, dare I say it, perfect. It was also a miracle, something seemingly spawned by magic after one of the most disjointed and fractured development cycles a game has ever experienced. Doom Eternal promises to bring all that good fun to Earth this time, so we will be boots on the ground on our home planet, trying to save it from the Hordes of Hell. Sounds like fun, right?

Final Fantasy VII Remake

PlayStation Experience 2015: Final Fantasy VII Remake – PSX 2015 Trailer | PS4

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE – PSX 2015 Trailer They are coming back to Midgar… www.facebook.com/FinalFantasy www.facebook.com/FinalFantasyVII Mako Reactors are draining the life energy of the planet. The Shinra Corporation rules over a corrupt surveillance state. A few prosper, the rest are left to rot in the city slums of Midgar.

Given how long this thing has been rattling around, it needs to make a splash at E3. It will have been four years since it was revealed, with no real moves or solid information being released in that time. With a rumored release for the end of this year, it needs to hit E3 like a meteor to get consumer confidence back on its side. Still, if it can make a good impression, there are more than likely millions of people out there, just like me, who will line up cash in hand to buy it.

The Avengers

The Avengers Project Announcement Trailer

Marvel Entertainment and Square Enix announced today a multi-year, multi-game partnership, leading with the reveal of The Avengers project. This newly established partnership pairs the creative minds at Marvel and Square Enix for one of the most powerful alliances in interactive entertainment.

One of the most interesting things about the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that we haven’t had any top-notch Triple-A games backing it up. The recent Spiderman for PS4 had huge success, and it might just be the perfect time for Square Enix to let us all get a good look at their Avengers game. Developed by Crystal Dynamics, the game promises to deliver fun times with all the famous locations, heroes and villains that the franchise has hammered into the public mind over the last decade. Based on the success of the films, this game could be huge.
