How To Tame Ocelots in the Minecraft 1.14 Update

Minecraft Taming Ocelots in 1.14 Update

The big Minecraft 1.14 update came out with plenty of changes, late last week. These changes were extensive and modified certain aspects of the game's overall mechanics. One of the significant changes in the game was how players go about taming Ocelots they found in the wild to have them trust a player. The developers have made it so players can no longer tame Ocelots in the game, and it's essential to cover changes. While the Ocelots are no longer tamable, players can still gain the creature's trust.

How To Tame Ocelots in 1.14 Update

Where Do They Spawn?

The first thing we need to cover is where you're going to find Ocelots. You'll find that they only spawn on the Jungle biomes. If they naturally generate in the game, they're going to be hostile. However, if players spawn the Ocelots themselves, they can do so where ever. But if they wish to gain the beast's trust then after spawning the creatures successfully, players need to walk a reasonable distance away from the Ocelot. After they're a fair distance away from the Ocelot, they can attempt to gain the creature's trust.

What Can Players Do With Ocelots Now?

Previously, when you wanted to tame Ocelots in Minecraft, you had to use raw salmon or cod to lure them and remain within 10 to six blocks away from to capture them. It worked similar to previous animals, and when the Ocelot has properly tamed the creature would become a cat and transform into one of three choices: a tabby, a tuxedo, or a Siamese.

However, things have changed in the Minecraft 1.14 update. Players can no longer tame Ocelots when they give them. While the creature will trust the player if they get fed enough, they cannot be properly tamed. The big difference between trust and tame is in both modes the Ocelot will trust the player. Although the beast will not follow players, it won't run away when a player gets closer to them.

Beyond not being able to tame it, it's still unknown what additional changes Ocelots are going to receive in the future. This change does make it easier to capture cats, though, as cats naturally spawn as strays in villages, making it easier for players to capture and tame them.
