Traits are essential in Remnant: From the Ashes. They define distinct characteristics for a player, giving them a particular style and improving their stats as they progress in the rigorous adventure. A helpful trait to get early on is Elder Knowledge. By getting it early, players are going to receive far more experience points than they would without it. This trait makes leveling up a breeze during the start of the game. However, it’s easy to miss, and many may not know how to acquire it.

What the Trait Does

The Elder Knowledge trait provides players with an increase in experience gain as they collect it throughout the game. The trait does not active any specific experience points gains. It activates for all forms of activities in Remnant: From the Ashes. Whenever a player is going to receive a set amount of experience points, that base number increases based on how many traits points are in Elder Knowledge.

Players gain 1.75 percent bonus experience for every trait point they put into Elder Knowledge. The trait caps at +20.

Where To Get Elder Knowledge

You can get Elder Knowledge pretty early in the game if you know where to find it. You’re going to find it in Ward 13, downstairs from the location of where you turn on the power. You can reach this location after you acquire the Ward 13 keycard. When you have it, go down the stairs to the B2 basement of the facility. When you get to this floor, proceed into the room, and you should see a doorway that needs the keycard to open.

Inside, you’re going to see a hallway with several doors on both sides. While most of the rooms contain a variety of different items for you to pick you, you’re most interested in the second room, on the left side. Look for the door that reads, “Dr. Santiago Itsaso,” on the nameplate. Inside, you’re going to see a tape recorder you can interact with. Approach the tape recorder to activate it, listening to the full tape. When it finishes playing, you’re going to receive the Elder Knowledge trait, and you can freely start adding trait points to it.
