A new month means a new series of Spotlight Hour events in Pokémon Go featuring new Pokémon. There are four new Pokémon available for the event: Taillow, Zubat, Oddish, and Buizel.

The Spotlight Hour is when a single Pokémon has a ridiculous chance to spawn, and it usually means you will see somewhere from three to nine of them around you without having to visit a particular location. The Spotlight Hour event has a new Pokémon every week on a Tuesday for only an hour. The event is open to everyone, but you need to have your Pokémon Go application open from 6:00pm to 7:00pm in your timezone.

Here is the entire Spotlight Hour dates, times, rewards, and the Pokémon available during the hour:

  • July 7: Taillow, and you’ll be able to earn twice the amount of candy for transferring the Pokémon.
  • July 14: Zubat, and you’ll be able to earn twice the XP for evolving Pokémon during the hour.
  • July 21: Oddish, and you’ll be able to earn twice the Stardust for catching Pokémon during the hour.
  • July 28: Buizel, and you’ll be able to earn twice the XP for catching Pokémon during the hour.

The choices for this month are fairly straightforward, but doesn’t show any noticeable choices, unlike June, which featured Clefairy where you can earn a shiny version. None of July’s Spotlight Hour choices will have an increased shiny spawn, but it could be a good time to earn some additional XP.

July will be another busy month for Pokémon Go players. Alongside the Spotlight hours, make sure to be on the lookout for completing your daily research tasks to unlock July’s Research Breakthrough Pokémon, Larvitar, to evolve it into the fearsome Tyranitar. Additionally, starting the weekly Pokémon Go Fest 2020 challenges will be starting on July 3, and they are available for everyone to complete, leading up to the Pokémon Go Fest 2020 virtual event over July 25 and 26. Tickets are still on sale for $14.99, and because it’s a virtual event, there is no limit to who can attend.
