Best moveset for Entei in Pokémon Go

What are the best moves?

Entei is one of the three legendary beasts you can capture in Pokémon Go. Like many legendary and mythical Pokémon in the mobile game, you can only capture it by defeating it in five-star raids or earning it from completing a special research task. More often than not, though, you’ll have to beat it in a battle with your friends. After defeating and catching it, you have to figure out how to give it the best moveset from its various attacks. We’ve listed out if it’s a good choice to use, but what is the best moveset it can use?

Entei is a Fire-type Pokémon. It’s going to be weak to Ground, Rock, and Water-type moves, but it’s also resistant to Bug, Fairy, Fire, Grass, Ice, and Steel-type attacks. For PvP, it has a maximum CP of 3,473, an attack of 197, a defense of 146, and a stamina of 210. For PvE, it has an attack of 235, a defense of 171, and a stamina of 251. Because of it’s lower defense, you’ll want to be careful using it in PvP. The lower defense also means that using the shadow version of Entei is not recommended to ensure it doesn’t faint within being hit a few times during a battle.

These are all of the moves Entei can learn.

Fast moves

  • Fire Fang (Fire-type) – 8 damage and 2.5 energy (4 damage per turn)
  • Fire Spin (Fire-type) – 9 damage and 3.3 energy (3 damage per turn)

Charged moves

  • Fire Blast (Fire-type) – 140 damage and 80 energy
  • Flamethrower (Fire-type) – 90 damage and 55 energy
  • Flame Charge (Fire-type) – 65 damage and 50 energy (100% chance to increase user’s attack by 1 rank)
  • Iron Head (Steel-type) – 70 damage and 50 energy
  • Overheat (Fire-type) – 130 damage and 55 energy (100% chance to lower user’s attack by 2 ranks)

Entei has several charged moves you can pick from to use in battle. The first choice you need to make is deciding what fast move, and of the two choices, fire spin will be a better option. You’ll be able to generate more energy with fire spin, and it does more damage than fire fang.

When considering what charged moves you want to use, you need to find the correct balance of damage and energy requirement. You want to avoid using fire blast because it uses 80 energy, and you can find better Fire-type options available. Flamethrower almost hits that mark, but flame charge is the better option. It’ll increase Entei’s attack every time you use it, and it does some decent damage. For the final choice, you want to go with iron head, which gives Entei the ability to be super effective against Fairy and Rock-types.

When you take Entei into battle, you primarily want to use it in the Master League. It’ll fare far better there than the Ultra League. Make sure it has fire spin for its fast move, and then iron head and flame charge for its charged moves.
