How to beat Entei in Pokémon Go – Weaknesses, counters, strategies

Entei has returned.

Entei is a legendary Pokémon you can capture in Pokémon Go, but you’ll have to do it by completing five-star raids. These raids can be fairly difficult, but with a few friends working alongside you, you’ll be able to defeat it and capture it at the end. Entei is one of the three legendary beasts and will be returning to five-star raids starting on January 26 for the Johto Celebration event, leading up to the Kanto Tour in February. You have a limited time to capture it before it returns to the wild, and we’ve also listed out if it’s a good addition to your collection along with its best moveset.

Entei weaknesses

Entei is a Fire-type Pokémon. It’s weak to Ground, Rock, and Water-type attacks, but it’s resistant to Bug, Fairy, Fire, Grass, Ice, and Steel-type moves. You can expect to have the most use of using Rock or Water-type Pokémon during the raid.

Best Entei counters

The best Pokémon you want to utilize during the Entei raid will be Mega Blastoise, Kyogre, and Rhyperior.

Mega Blastoise is a Water-type Pokémon capable of doing a massive amount of damage. Like any Mega Pokémon, you’ll have to spend a little time to earn enough mega candy to evolve your regular Blastoise, but it’s well worthwhile. A Mega Blastoise has a maximum CP of 3,941, an attack of 220, a defense of 199, and a stamina of 160. The best moveset it can use during the battle is water gun for its fast move, and then hydro cannon and hydro pump for its charged moves.

Next, you have Kyogre, another legendary Pokémon capable of dealing a lot of damage to Entei. It’s also a Water-type, and while a bit rarer than several Pokémon, it’s an incredible choice against Entei. Because Kyogre did appear right before Entei’s entry into five-star raids, several players should have access to it. Kyogre has a maximum CP of 4,115, an attack of 225, a defense of 192, and a stamina of 173. The best moveset you can use against Entei includes waterfall for its fast move and then surf and blizzard for its charged moves.

The final best option is Rhyperior, the Ground and Rock-type Pokémon. It’s the final evolution of Rhydon, and it’s capable of withstanding many of Entei’s attacks while taking advantage of its Rock and Water-type weakness. Rhyperior has a maximum CP of 3,733, an attack of 202, a defense of 162, and a stamina of 210. The best moveset you want to use against Entei is mud slap for its fast move, and then rock wrecker and surf for its charged moves.

You’ll need to use a total of six Pokémon against Entei, and these other options are great choices to round up the rest of your team.
