Who Is The Villain in Ghost Recon Breakpoint?

The villain in Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a former ghost, so he knows all of the player’s tricks and knows how to properly handle them. But who is Cole D. Walker?

Ubisoft held a live stream yesterday where they showcased their world announcement of Ghost Recon Breakpoint. The live stream showed off some of the game’s survival mechanics, story, and how the Ubisoft team was handling this new game. A question many had while they were watching it focused on the game’s villain, who is later revealed to have been a Ghost as well, similar to the player’s characters. It makes sense not many knew about him, as he’s a brand new character to the Ghost Recon franchise. Here’s everything we know about him.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint Villain

Cole D. Walker

His name is Cole D. Walker. Players first met him earlier this month in Ghost Recon Wildlands mission Operation Oracle. At first, he’s an ally and is there to assist the player in the mission. He’s there by his own accord, on a personal mission to learn about central characters tied in the story and Bowman. We later learn that a mission that Bowman gave support to in the past got two of Walker’s men killed; he’s under the impression Bowman is leaking information to Unidad.

It’s all tied together with Skell Technology, a firm that lends useful assets to the protagonists. Walker leaves the mission by vowing revenge, should Bowman stray. Given what we see in the Ghost Recon Breakpoint trailer, she may have done so, or Walker had alternative reasons to take over Skell Technology’s headquarters on Auroa.

Walker in Breakpoint

Operation Oracle happened in 2019. Fast forward to Breakpoint, and we’re in 2023. Not too far in the future, but it’s been a few years. Since then, Walker has turned his back on being a Ghost, and it’s up to the former team he was working with on Operation Oracle to take him down. He won’t be easy, though.

Not only does he have all the training of a Ghost, but he has a small, elite army with the same discipline. Not only that but because he’s taken over Skell Technology, he has access to all of their armed drones. He’s going to use everything he has to take down the Ghost team sent there to stop him. While he doesn’t have a grudge against them, he’s after other people, and they may show up in Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

Other than this information, we don’t know too much about the character. We don’t know about Walker’s squad of Wolves he has backing him, or how he acquired Auroa in the first place. These mysterious may come out in the end, and Ubisoft could treat the Wolves just like Warlords from Wildlands. The entire island is full of hostile NPCs, so players are going to have their hands full.

Despite Breakpoint taking place in 2023, you won’t have to wait that long to play the game. You’ll have the opportunity to play it later this year, on October 4. You can pre-order it now for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC.
