This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is packed with fish and bugs for you to catch. They all have their own set of rules for when they spawn. From the time of day to the month, and location, tracking them all can be a bit of a pain.

The Whale Shark can be sold for 13000 bells, so it is well worth catching.

To find the Whale Shark in the southern hemisphere, you will need to look for fish spawns in the sea, from December to March, and from June to September in the northern hemisphere.

So, to recap:

Northern Hemisphere

  • Fish in the sea
  • Look for the largest shadows
  • Available all-day
  • Only available between June to September

Southern Hemisphere

  • Fish in the sea
  • Look for the largest shadows
  • Available all-day
  • Only available between December to March

One item that will prove very useful in your quest to catch the Whale Shark or any other fish for that matter is Fish Bait. Be sure to bring some with you when you plan on fishing, as it will make more fish spawn.
