How to Evolve Togepi into Togetic and Togekiss in Pokémon Sword and Shield

Here’s how you go about evolving Togepi into Togetic and Togekiss in Pokémon Sword and Shield

Togepi is one of the cutest Pokémon in the series, and you can find one in Pokémon Sword and Shield. While it may remain cute the entire time you have it, Togepi does evolve. It has two evolutions, Togetic and Togekiss.

Before you can think about working your way up Togepi’s evolution tree, you need to find one first. You can find them only in the Bridge Field location of the Wild Area during normal, overcast, and heavy fog weather. Even then, the chances of locating one of them are minimal, so you might find yourself roaming this area for a long time.

Unfortunately, Togepi does not show up in the overworld and is instead one of the sharp exclamation points forcing you to rush up to them in the grass.

Luckily, a quick way to get a Togepi is by speaking to a woman to the west of Hammerlocke. She’ll be in the left corner where the Rhydon and Gastrodon are fighting. Speak to her, and she’s willing to trade a Togepi for a Toxel. If you can acquire a Toxel, you can receive Togepi much faster than purely searching for it.

When you get your hands on Togepi, you need to build up your friendship with the creature. You have multiple ways to do this, with the easiest being having it in your main party while you travel around the Galar region. You can also feed it curry in your camp, provide it berries that increase friendship, or have it take part in Pokémon battles, without having it faint. If it faints, you do lose some friendship.

You can check on your progress with the Friendship checker in Hammerlocke. When you have high enough friendship, you need to level it up one more time for your Togepi to become Togetic. Togepi starts as a Fairy-type, but changes to Fairy and Flying-type after it becomes Togetic.

Now, to acquire the final evolution, you need to use a shiny stone on your Togetic. You can find the shiny stone at only a handful of locations in the Galar region. There’s one behind the large stone circle at the Lake of Outrage, or you can try your luck with the Digging Duo to have them dig one up. You can find them in Bridge Field, next to the nursery. It costs 500 Watts for their services.

If you’re having trouble acquiring a shiny stone, there’s the possibility of Clefairy, Clefable, and Lunatone holding one when you capture them. You can farm their respective locations to try your chance at getting a stone this way.

When you find the stone, give it to your Togetic, and it should evolve shortly after into a Togekiss.
