Monster Hunter: World‘s latest expansion is Iceborne, a brand new winter-wonderland wasteland full of deadly monsters. While the monsters are dangerous, the hunters are even more fearsome. However, many hunters need to look their best when they’re defeating the biggest of hunts. A way they can customize their appearance is by the use of layered armor. Here’s how players are going to go about equipping it and unequipping it in the game.

What Is It?

Layered armor is going to be a purely cosmetic appearance tab for players who want to look different from their preferred armor. Even if their ideal armor set is going to offer them the most protection, they may not find the overall look of their armor appealing. To modify this, Capcom now gives players the chance to look however they want when they’re hunting.

How to Equip Layered Armor

When you forge your layered armor, you’re going to have a handful of options to choose from on how you can go about equipping it. The easiest method is to return to your room and going to the “Change Appearance” option. From there, you’re going to want to go to the “Layered Armor Settings,” where you’re going to see the available options for you to choose on your hunter. You’re going to need to do this at your item box.

Additionally, while you’re at Astera or a Research Base, you can go to your item box location to modify your appearance options. It’s going to look similar to the options from your room so that you won’t get too lost in the menu.

With both options, you have the chance to change the color of the armor. However, not everything on the armor is going to change. When you elect to modify the armor, only specific sections are going to shift around. You can do this from the “Colors,” tab in the menu. You’re going to want to play around the options to see what parts change, and to get an idea of what sits your particular hunter’s chosen aesthetics.
