OSRS Cockatrice Slaying Guide

As you continue to play Old School Runescape, you will eventually come across an option to take part in Slayer Dungeons and take on some of the game’s meanest creatures.

Cockatrices are one of those many Slayer Monsters that require a level 25 Slayer rank to kill. They are known to drop limpwurt roots which are great for those trying to invest in the Herblore skill.

They are mainly hunted to complete the quest Fur’nSeek, which asks a player to get a cockatrice skin to proceed in the quest line. They are relatively easy to find and kill— so long as you come prepared.

Get a damn Mirror Shield

First and foremost, you will need a Mirror Shield to face off against these things. It doesn’t matter if you have Rune on or something greater, a Mirror Shield is essential to taking this buggers on. We also advise going for high ranged weapons like Crossbows to take them on.

The mirror shield is a piece of Slayer equipment that is used for fighting cockatrices and basilisks and requires a defense level of 20 and a slayer level of 25 to wield. The shield stops your stats from being heavily reduced by these two creatures. The shield can be bought for 5,0000 coins from any Slayer Master.

How to get to the Fremennik Slayer Dungeon

Fremennik Slayer Dungeon is the home of the cockatrice and they are located on the third section of the dungeon.

The dungeon is located south-east of Rellekka, beside the Golden Maple Tree. It is only be accessed by those who have the relevant Slayer level but try to be at least level 25 if you can. The higher the better.

You should be able to fight off the cockatrices easy so long as you come well prepared, just be careful of the super cockatrice that can spawn, as it might wreck you if you are at a lower level. Just remember, you can’t set up dwarf multicannons inside of Slayer Dungeons, so you’ll need to come up with a different strategy if you rely on them.

Time to start the hunt. Just make sure you are prepared.
