Being a unique racing/roguelike hybrid, every Star Wars: Galactic Racer Tour Run establishes one of the weirdest premises in a game: you race as much as you can survive. The game even gives you a lot of mechanics to work with just to make sure every run can work to your advantage. Parts enhance your vehicle, Abilities affect the races themselves, and there are even Favours that influence the entire playing field.
All of these are important setups, because when you lose that League Entry Token, it’s over for your run. But as a roguelike, we all know not every Galactic Racer Tour Run is the same. In fact, there are ways you can approach your Tour depending on what you want to achieve:
See what your Backers think

You start getting Backers when you reach Act 2 of your Galactic Racer campaign, and they’ll be your source of your first League Entry Token and an optional mission. These challenges can give a lot of rewards, so it’s worth keeping your Backers happy. And ideally, when you start your Tour and choose a Backer, you’d want to take a Contract that actually aligns with what build you had in mind.
The Backer missions can vary, and every so often they might offer an alternative “path” once you meet or fail the one you’re currently in. They also have “themes” that can help determine what kind of run you should make:
- The Hutt focuses on the thrill of being first. Most of their missions focus on overtaking opponents, completing Pre-Race Checks, and just staying in 1st Place as long as possible.
- The Broker likes the need for speed. A lot of their missions involve spending time airborne, going really fast, and hitting opponents with Abilities.
- The Pirate prefers being the underdog and just giving yourself the handicap. Many of their missions need you to stay behind, execute difficult maneuvers, or making sure your rivals get hit with System Malfunctions.
Take the path of least resistance

If this is one of your first few Galactic Racer runs, chances are you’d want to at least see the campaign through. And this is difficult when you get to new planets and have no idea how their tracks and environments work. With only a few League Event Tokens to your name, one Crash or getting left behind means a restart. So in survival-focused runs like these, take the path of least resistance.
Basically, just choose nodes that have the least risks. Going backwards from the end of the last planet, take the node that would take you through the fewest Eliminators. This ensures you don’t undergo any Events that unnecessarily puts your Galactic Racer League Event Token at risk.
Pursue Eliminators if you’re on a warpath

If you love wreaking havoc on the battlefield, do the opposite of a survival run. This time, you get yourself in front of (or in this case, behind) as many rivals as possible to get them out of the running. Just the right brush can send them spiraling into a wall, while some Galactic Racer Abilities are precisely built to sabotage their progress.
The most rewarding Event to do this would be Eliminators with a bit of Sidebetting until you get a Head-to-Head. Of course, anticipate that your League Event Token will always be on the line, so your build should accommodate more aggressive gameplay. For starters, get Abilities that suit your “fighting style” (do you prefer ramming into opponents, catching them off-guard, or punishing them?) and Favours that reward takedowns.
Secure your build stats as soon as possible

Almost all Galactic Racer Tour Events provide you with Credits, a choice of Ability/ies to boost, and a Part Pack – assuming you don’t Wreck Out. Anyone who’s played an RPG might want to distribute this equally to get a well-rounded build, but for a roguelike this isn’t advisable. There’s no guarantee you won’t reset everything in the next race, so better go all out. Use your Racer Style and use that as a basis of the run’s current build. When given the chance, go all-in on Standard Races and other Events that give you stat rewards and focus on:
- Speed, Afterburner, Ramjet: If you want to focus on building speed as fast and as consistently as possible
- Cornering, Vehicle Trait (Drift, Kinetic Burst, Knife Edge): If you want better control over your vehicle, especially in tight corners and sudden turns
- Resilience, Battery: If you want to make sure your vehicle doesn’t Crash with the slightest brush and you have that juice to proc an Ability as soon as you need it
Prioritize repairs for your Faulty Parts

We mentioned that you can technically get away from a nasty Crash if you hit the brakes hard enough, scrape the walls for just a little bit, and recover from there. But you should also take into account that the nastier the hits, the tougher it also gets for your ride. Get enough bumps and System Malfunctions, and you’ll actually get Faulty Parts.
As you may have experienced by now, Faulty Parts add a nasty debuff to whatever benefit a Part might be giving you. The only way to remove this is to get it repaired. Unless there’s a Scrap Parts encounter nearby, you’ll have to live with the debuff until you get to the next planet. If you can live with a Faulty Part, then continue as planned. But if it’s something that can actually hinder your performance, prioritize nodes that lead you to Scrap Parts.
Only choose non-rewards if you can afford missing out

It’s true that Scrap Parts, Mystery Encounters, and Time Trials give you a generally risk-free experience among Galactic Racer Tour Events. Just remember that while this does add progress to your Tour, they don’t give you big Rewards unless you actually produce a good outcome.
Time Trials only give rewards when you actually fulfill their challenge conditions, and Mystery Encounters usually pay off much later (assuming you even get a good encounter). You really only get use out of Spare Parts if you have Faulty Parts to repair and enough Credits to do that plus if you want to buy something. But if you’re short on cash, consider just going for the Standard Race.
Frequently Asked Questions about playing a Galactic Racer Tour Run
How many Crashes can I take before I lost my League Entry Token?
You can Crash up to a number of times depending on the difficulty: 4 (Cadet), 3 (Pilot), 2 (Ace), 1 (Champion), and you can get one extra Crash with the Tenacious Racer Style
Do I lose a Token if I finish last in a Standard Race?
No, as long as you don’t Wreck Out, finishing 12th in a Standard Race Event keeps you in the tour.
Can I change my mind after picking a node in my Galactic Racer Tour Run?
No, you have to play all the Events in that path until you arrive at another fork.
