Where does Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order take place in relation to the movies?

There’s plenty of mystery surrounding the new Star Wars title, Jedi: Fallen Order. We do know a little bit about Cal Kestis the main character of the game, the project has plenty of notable voice actors behind it, and we already have the full list of trophies and achievements you can earn in the game.

A significant question fans are looking to have answered about is when does Jedi: Fallen Order take place in relation to the films? We know it’s after the fall of the Republic, which occurred at the end of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, and before the first Death Star getting blown up in Star Wars: A New Hope.

Jedi: Fallen Order takes place five years after Revenge of the Sith. But where does that sit within the original trilogy? Revenge of the Sith took place 19 years before A New Hope, making Luke and Leia 19 years old during those movies. This timeline means that 14 years before A New Hope, Jedi: Fallen Order‘s protagonist, Cal Kestis, was swinging around the galaxy and taking the fight to the tyrannical Empire.

To provide a general timeline to the movies, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace was 32 years before A New Hope. Star Wars: The Clone Wars was 22 years before. The Clone Wars was a massive conflict that had half of the galaxy fighting it out for three years, which was all set up by Emperor Palpatine, the leader of the Empire and a Sith Lord. At the end of Revenge of the Sith, he initiated Order 66, which had the Jedi’s compatriots the Clone Troopers turn on them, wiping out nearly all of them. Cal is one of the last surviving Jedi to make it out alive, and has been in hiding ever since.

We don’t know if Jedi: Fallen Order is going to feature any time jumps in the story. EA and Respawn have been keeping the story as tightly wrapped up as possible to ensure no spoilers get out before the game’s release Nov. 15, including preventing any form of early access for the game.

You still have time to pre-order the game before Nov. 15. You can grab it for the PlayStation 4 on the PlayStation Store, Xbox One on the Microsoft Store, or on PC through Steam or Origin. If you grab it on Steam, you need an Origin account to launch the game. For those who pre-order the game digitally for a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you can get 10 percent off the title if you’re an EA Access member. EA will also have the game available on Origin Access if you’re a Premier member, which is different than EA Access, for $14.99 per month or $99.99 per year.
