What do we know about Cal Kestis from Jedi: Fallen Order, and what is his story?
The main character in the new Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is named Cal Kestis. He’s a Jedi padawan who survived the Empire’s rise to power and made it through the Emperor’s Order 66, which had the Jedi exterminated. Jedi: Fallen Order takes place five years after Order 66, with the Empire rising to power.
We don’t know too much about Cal. EA and Respawn have been keeping plenty of details about the story close to their chests. They don’t want to have players learning about the game’s story before they have the chance to experience it themselves. EA is going out of its way to prevent players from learning about the game early by restricting early access to it.
What we do know that after Cal survived Order 66, he made his way to the Scrapper Guild on Bracca. They accept jobs where their members are scrapping the remaining ships stranded by the Republic following the Clone Wars. The Scrapper Guild continued ran after the Clone Wars, and continued its work into the First Order- Resistance war, taking placing during the Sequel Star Wars trilogy.
The lightsaber we see him using in the trailers, and the one gameplay demonstration is not originally his. He picks it up along his journey, and there’s plenty of mystery surrounding how he acquired this weapon. We’re likely going to learn this at the beginning of the game, which may spark Cal’s separation from the Scrapper Guild and his journey with his new Jedi trainer, Cere Junda.
Cal is going to learn more force powers during his journey. We won’t know about too many of them until we progress through the story. A force Respawn has shown off grants Cal the ability to slow down objects, such as large propellers, fans, and even enemies. These force powers are going to serve as useful in-game combat mechanics, and grant Cal access to other areas in the game. He’ll also have the routine Jedi abilities to throw his lightsaber, pull enemies closer, jump higher, and have heightened awareness during combat.
We’re going to learn more about Cal during his journey in Jedi: Fallen Order. The game releases Nov. 15 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC. EA Access users can get the game for 10 percent off for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. PC players can only get it through Steam or Origin, not Epic Games Store or Microsoft Store. Steam players are still going to need an Origin account to play the game.
