Will Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 have microtransactions?

Will you spend more than you did on the base game?

Microtransactions are sometimes a great way for players to obtain coins and in-game currency to purchase cosmetics or access additional content in a game. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 is a remaster of two games created before microtransactions had become commonplace. Luckily, microtransactions will not come with the game’s initial launch, and those who purchase the base game will have access to all of the content.

However, microtransactions are not out of the question. Vicarious Visions boss Jen Oneal spoke with GameSpot about the concept during an interview. “Everything that you see at launch is going to be unlocked with gameplay,” Oneal explained to GameSpot. “We’re not planning on having monetization at launch.”

The team at Vicarious Visions wanted to ensure any player who purchased the game and pre-order the title would have a full packaging waiting for them on launch day. No one would have to wait for additional content drops or to rely on any particular currency reliant of real-world money purchases to advance through the game. The team hopes to keep true to the original game’s initial launch.

But if players insist on additional content and more things to do after Pro Skater 1+2 launches, microtransactions in the title could become a reality. The microtransactions would only have to do with this new content, and nothing to do with the base game.

We’ll receive more details about additional content and what else to expect from the game after it launches on Sept. 4. Additional content drops and microtransactions will depend on how the community reacts to the game, and how much more things they want to do. Vicarious Visions could have more to show off in the future.
