Bioware’s Anthem Loot Boxes To Have Cosmetic Items: Analyst

According to Michael Pachter, an analyst, Bioware’s Anthem will have microtransactions which will be cosmetic, after EA’s controversy of Star Wars: Battlefront 2. In November, the development team behind BioWare made it clear that regarding the loot boxes and said: “they were listening to the players”.

Anthem - How Electronic Arts Will Handle Microtransaction In It

In Pachter’s latest report he asks, “So the question for Anthem is, will EA screw it up like with Star Wars? Or will they follow the Overwatch and Destiny roadmap, where the actual game is fun to play and the payments are ancillary? Because where they got into trouble with Star Wars was in making it pay to win.”

If the loot boxes are to be made entirely cosmetic, then according to him no one should have a problem with that. “So Anthem has the potential to be Destiny like in terms of game experience, and Overwatch like in terms of microtransactions offered, where it’s all cosmetic and no one bats an eye,” Pachter concluded.
