A few hours ago, a fan posted over the CD Projekt RED forums a screenshot of a chat with the Cyberpunk 2077 support team where it was stated that the game would not be featuring mod support on PC.

Looking at fans being quite disappointed about the news, community director Marcin Momot has written and posted a quick reply about that, to explain further the position of the studio about supporting modders on the incoming title.

“I wanted to elaborate on this topic and on that answer in particular. We have no plans to share at the moment,” he said, which is slightly different from not having plans at all. It’s like the thing will be looked into after launch, and in fact, he added what follows.

“Obviously, we would love to support the modding community in the future, but for the time being, we want to focus on releasing the game first. Hopefully, this clears things up a bit.”

Considering that CD Projekt RED was born as a PC exclusive studio, we can understand why the community has this thing of modding so close to its heart. Not supporting it would mean disappointing that core user base which has always been supportive of the team, not just after The Witcher 3 but for ages.

So, as we get closer and closer to the release date of the game, which could be revealed at E3 2019 if rumors are correct, there’s a chance that – once the development process reaches an end – CDPR could be free to work on that, too.

Perhaps, it could be coming as part of the post-launch period of the title, which, by just looking at previous titles from the developer, we expect to be rather long.
