Unreal Engine and Fortnite developer Epic Games recently announced that they have opened a new studio in Cologne, Germany to be led by former members of Factor 5, a studio known for developing Turrican and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. In particular, former Factor 5 CEO Achim Moller will be the studio director at Epic’s new location, and former Factor 5 president Julian Eggebrecht will be the new studio’s director of online technology. These two new members of Epic Games have also previously worked for Nintendo and Sony, as well as Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu.
According to the official announcement, Eggebrecht and Moller join Epic Games as part of the company’s initiative to focus more on interactive media and streaming technologies.
“At the core of Epic’s success are highly-skilled and passionate individuals,” said Eggebrecht. “Germany is a nation at the forefront of technology, and we look forward to extending our local presence as we fill newly created roles and hire exceptional talent.”
Following the opening of the studio, Epic Games is now hiring for various roles for their new Cologne location.
