Mark Zuckerberg took a sip of Guinness during a podcast appearance and made a face that has since spread across X, according to Mashable. The Meta CEO sat for the interview with a full pint in front of him, and a 12-second clip of the moment is what viewers have been sharing. Many of the posts focus on how long he seemed to hold the stout in his mouth.
The interview was on Cheeky Pint, a podcast hosted by Stripe co-founder John Collison. Alexandr Wang, Meta’s Chief AI Officer, joined Zuckerberg as a guest. Collison is an Irish entrepreneur who was born in Limerick in 1990. He enrolled at Harvard in 2009 and left the following year, then started Stripe with his brother Patrick in 2010. In 2016, an investment valued the payments company at $9.2 billion, which made the brothers the world’s youngest self-made billionaires.
Collison launched the interview series in 2025, and it features conversations with leaders in the tech industry. The sip itself is short. Everyone at the table raised their Guinness glasses first, according to another outlet. Zuckerberg then drank, hesitated, and moved his glass away from himself. That outlet also pointed out that the clip does not show him becoming ill, despite how some posts describe it.
Where the clip came from
The full episode runs 134 minutes and mostly deals with Meta’s plans for artificial intelligence. The Guinness moment is a small slice of that conversation. It took off quickly after many accounts shared the clip on X. Other users soon joined in, and the posts ranged from jokes about the pint to jabs at his company. One wrote, “Zuck drinking Guinness like he’s testing human food for the first time.”
Another joked about his metaverse push, writing, “Man bet the whole company on the metaverse and still can’t commit to a pint.” Reactions kept coming. “I’d react the same way. *** is this ****,” one user wrote. Another said, “Lol he better get used to it, if hes hitting the pubs in Ireland.” A third added, “Guiness is great, not sure why he is making that face.” One user questioned the whole choice, writing, “Also, this is weird on another level. He’ve never had Guinness before in his entire life? If you don’t like it, why would you have it instead of something else? Lizard people confirmed”
Awkward public moments like this one travel fast on X, the way a public pool interruption over photos did. The stout in the clip has deep roots in Ireland. Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000-year lease on the unused St. James’s Gate brewery in Dublin in 1759, and the brand is now owned by the British multinational drinks group Diageo.
The beer is made from water, malted barley, roasted barley, hops and yeast, and the roasted barley gives it the dark color and distinctive taste. Guinness began using nitrogen in 1959, and its small bubbles give the pour a creamier, smoother texture than carbon dioxide does. Guinness Draught is a stout with an alcohol content of around 4.2 percent.
