Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition’s achievements have been discovered, making it the first game for Nintendo platforms to support Xbox and Microsoft’s achievement since the launch of the Xbox Live network.

According to True Achievements, there are 79 achievements worth a total of 1,750 Gamerscore in the game. This means you can play it on Nintendo Switch and earn gamerscore points to add on top of the ones you gained playing on Xbox One and Windows 10.

Minecraft Nintendo Switch Edition Achievement Leaked

In a note issued to Polygon, Microsoft confirmed the news, saying that “we can confirm that Minecraft players on Nintendo Switch will soon be able to earn achievements tied to Xbox Live once the Bedrock update is released.”

This isn’t the first time achievements are made available on non-Microsoft platforms, since iOS and Android titles have already obtained their fair share of them on games such as Age of Empires: Castle Siege, but sure enough this is the first time they drop on a rival gaming console.

In 2017, talking to Giantbomb, Phil Spencer said on the matter that he didn’t know whether the achievements would be coming to Nintendo Switch, so that’s quite a surprise right away.

“I don’t know yet. I’m guessing no,” he said. “And this is a collaborative relationship between Nintendo and I. They don’t have Xbox Achievements on their platform. If they want us to, I would love to be able to do it. The relationship with Nintendo is incredibly strong.”

Cross-play is taking a bit longer to work on Nintendo Switch, as the Better Together update implementing it is not available yet on the platform while it has already been deployed on Windows 10, Windows phone, Xbox One, iOS, and Android.
