Two rumored Silent Hill games set the internet ablaze.

Since the arrival of the bittersweet P.T. demo, the Silent Hill franchise has seemingly found itself stuck inside the rumor mill. This time around, multiple sources close to VideoGameChronicle now point to at least one new installment in the series being in the works, and fans may see it as early as this summer.

A recent VGC report has highlighted claims that “Konami has already outsourced a Silent Hill project to a prominent Japanese developer, with a reveal due this summer.” The name of this developer is still uncertain, but the report alleges that Konami previously heard a Silent Hill reboot pitch from Until Dawn creator Supermassive Games — something that didn’t end up materializing.

According to other sources, the publication has noted that this Japanese title is “something of a departure” from past games, but it may not be the only new Silent Hill in development. The report’s allegations were first made as a result of The Medium’s developer, Bloober Team, recently stating it is constructing a new game for an existing horror franchise with a “famous” publisher.

“We’ve been working for more than a year on another gaming project, another horror IP, and we’re doing this with a very famous gaming publisher,” Bloober CEO Piotr Babieno declared to GameIndusty.biz. “I can’t tell you who. I can’t tell you what the project is, but I’m pretty sure when people realize we’re working on it, they will be very excited.”

If the speculation is correct, this would make sense of Bloober’s latest job listings for a “big new project” that will apparently feature combat. However, nothing of the sort has been made official, so fans will need to hold tight until The Medium creator drops more just than a subtle hint.
